If your flight is impacted by a delay, you may be entitled to compensation from the airline, depending on the delayed time and the distance between the origin and the destination.
As a general rule, but varies airline by airline, if the delay is longer than 2 hours for short flights or 4 hours for long flights, the airline may offer refreshment vouchers. If the delay goes into the following day, the airline should offer overnight hotel accommodation. If the delay occurs in Europe, you may also be entitled to delay compensation from the airline, as fllights are covered by the EU flight delay and cancellation compensation (EU Regulation 261/2004).
